Second Partner Meeting – Olomouc 2012

March 5th-8th  2013, the second meeting of the VESTA project partner group took place in Olomouc. The first day was planned for a visit at the Center run by the JDEME AUTISTŮM NAPROTI Association and the first project working session.

            The JAN Association was called into being on parents' initiative in 2003. The Center offers a lot of varied forms of help to disabled persons and their parents, starting with individual/group therapies, specialist counseling, through social consulting, meetings of the families, to trainings of social skills. Sylva Koči, the head of early intervention, presented principles of therapeutic work, and the mothers of persons with autism shared their personal experience.

The working sessions were devoted to:

a.                   the analysis of tasks carried out so far (studies of the needs of autistic people within the training of vocational skills; analysis of the situation of autistic persons on labor markets in partner states;

b.                  the content of the project website),

c.                   the structure of didactic materials.

d.                  the project's schedule, task distribution and final products.

 a) Three  reports (Chech, Polish and Geek) were  presented. The conclusion was that the common EU legislation creates similar opportunities for employing autistic persons in partner states, however, the level of implementing these persons' rights is different in each partner country.

b)  Concept of constructing a website of the VESTA project https://vesta3.webnode.gr. Was presented. It was determined that:  (1) the form of information about the project should be concise, short  (2) the website ought to contain general content about what has been decided during partner meetings (motions, changes, activities).

c) the content and structure of didactic materials for people with autism was presented and discussed . Participants in the discussion accepted materials' division into two areas (general and detailed) and the proposed material content. It was stated that the suggested activities were too complicated and abstract for autistic people. It was stressed that the main task of the project should be teaching specific vocational skills, whereas teaching the rules of behaving at a workplace and CV-preparation skills were considered of secondary importance. It was decided that the material content of part 2 would be modified.

d) all details were discussed and conclusions were stated.
